How to Record a Video
The functionalities on inquireaboutme will enable you to create an 'About Me' video without having to do so locally. For individuals who prefer to record an 'About Me' video live, a webcam will appear while logged on inquireaboutme, and you will be prompted to record. The same applies for the recipient of a 'Video Reference' request.
If decided to create a video locally and then upload, there are several methods. To create and record a reference video or about me video, most desktop and laptop computers are already equipped with a web camera that allows you to do so. To record a video, you can use one of many free programs that allows you to record and save videos to your desk/lap top, then upload to your i.am page. While a desktop computer provides a more stable foundation, a laptop can easily be fixed on a solid platform to make a video recording.
Video Requests
If created locally within your personal work environment, the accepted formats to upload videos to your i.am page are: .m4v, .mpg, and .wmv. These are the formats needed to upload an ‘About Me’ video, 'Reference' video, or ‘Accolade’ video.
Specialty/Customized Videos
Animation and whiteboard videos should be saved in the following formats: .m4v, .mpg, and .wmv. These are considered professional videos that are customized.
Regardless of the type of video, simply browse to the localized area on your hard drive, and upload (or drag and drop) to the respective area.
Creating the Ideal Recording Environment
For 'About Me' or 'Reference' videos, the area that is viewed in the web camera live space should be clean and an office background is ideal. The area should be well-lit, with no additional movement in the background, or sound (other than your voice). Your attire should be professional, as though you’re conducting an interview.
Practice before recording, and only upload a solid presentation, with no breaks in between conversation. Your video should be short, with the ideal recording time being 30 seconds to 1 minute. Eye contact should remain entirely on the web camera, reading from notes is not ideal, and speaking fluently (no pauses) makes your statement look more genuine.
To end your video, have your hand and mouse ready to stop recording, eliminating the need to look away from the web camera. Remember, the goal is to present yourself in the best professional manner possible.
'Accolade' videos are considered in the moment, and should be that of a monumental event, that's considered to be an achievement.

What to Say (Reference for Employer/Customer speaking on behalf of a business)
Example 2
I am Jason Whitlock, volunteer for ‘The Z Foundation’. I decided to be a volunteer after receiving services from ‘The Z Foundation’, when my daughter was receiving treatment for cancer outside an area where my wife and I resided.
If not for ‘The Z Foundation’, we would not have been able to afford the expenses related to our daughter’s care. Yet alone, room and board for my wife and I to accompany our daughter to her doctor and treatment visits. It’s because of ‘The Z Foundation’ that my daughter survived the ordeal, and is now cancer free, and we were able to stay with her every step of the way.
The Z Foundation made a big difference in my life. By volunteering, I feel I’m paying it forward to other families who too experience similar situations. I aim to ensure that families in need have the same positive interactions as I did, and it’s self rewarding knowing I played a role in assisting with their needs.
